Belinda
Boon is an Assistant Professor at Kent
State University's School of Library and Information Science
at the Columbus, OH campus where she teaches "Selection &
Acquisition," "Foundations of Library and Information Science"
and "Library Materials and Services for School Age
Children".
Her areas of expertise include reference services, collection
development and evaluation, and children's literature and
programming for children and youth.

Formerly
the Manager of Continuing Education and Consulting for the
Texas State Library and
Archives Commission (TSLAC), Belinda coordinated a statewide continuing
education program and developed the Small
Library Management Training Program. She received her Bachelor’s in English
literature (1983), and Master's in Library and
Information Science (1987), and doctorate
in Information Studies (2006) from the University of Texas School of
Information.
Before joining the TSLAC
continuing education staff in 1993, Belinda was the director of
the Bastrop
(Texas) Public Library and an Assistant Branch/Children’s Librarian in
the Harris County (Texas) Public
Libraries. She has
presented numerous workshops on reference services, storytelling,
collection development and weeding, and is the author of The CREW
Method, a nationally recognized manual for weeding library
collections. |
